Abstracted surrealist soft sculptures created from familiar materials to guide the feelings of the viewer without the need to touch the work. Lace, felt, fringe, and hand stitching, utilizing heirloom doll making techniques, create works soft yet sturdy and tap into feelings of grief, change, hope and loss. Merging skills developed over a lifetime of artistic practice, Kelly's current work sheds scale in favor of clarity; hyperfocusing and highlighting, materials, methods, and feeling.
